Home Décor Trends for Spring from Barb Abraham
Ahh! Spring is in the air! Hope springs eternal in Northeast Ohio as our thoughts turn to warmer days of sunshine and blue skies. So how do we welcome tropical temperatures into our homes when the thermometer still reads in the teens? Color, lots and lots of color. Our color forecast for spring this year accentuates bright hues and lots of contrast. Take that burnt orange of fall and add a splash of bright red. Rusty browns are morphing into exotic pinky corals for a fun and carefree look. Feeling overwhelmed with brown both inside and out? Spice up the “blues” with lime green pillows. Bright yellow daffodil flowers both fresh and fake are a subtle reminder of the harbinger of spring. The classics are coming on strong in Northeast Ohio. Blues are going deeper or lighter, ranging from Navy to pale Aqua. Add a kick of lime green to the Navy and you have a three-piece suit that is surprisingly kicked up a notch. Soothing aqua on cozy chocolate brown brings the essence of spa like restfulness with a hint of summer vacation into our bed and baths! Until we can return to spending more time in the out of doors, bring the outside in. Open the blinds when the elusive sun shines; display fresh flowers in a vase or floating in a bowl; buy that funky pillow or crazy quilt tote bag. Remember, groundhog or not, Spring is only a few weeks away. Enjoy! Home Décor Trends for fall from Barb Abraham
If you’re looking to update your décor this fall, trends are taking a cue right from Nature. Popular colors are reminiscent of the fall leaves including rusty reds, deep greens and the influence of brown in every shade. Orange is also “the” accent color for 2007, with pumpkin becoming the “go-to” color for fall. Adding simple accessories such as throw pillows, fall flowers, lightweight throw blankets and candles in the rich, warm golds and oranges of October, you can bring the beauty of fall’s changing hues into your home. |
